Lisa and Bill Holmes on How to Fix a Leaning Fence

Hi, I’m Lisa Holmes. Bill and I run this website, FencePostFix.com, showing homeowners how to fix a leaning fence (while saving money).

How to Fix a Leaning Fence… the Cheaper Way

You may have a backyard fence in great condition, yet it leans to one side. In many cases, the culprit may be a rotting wood post.

Why replace the entire fence when you can simply fix the post, right? Plus, why hire a handyman when you can take on the job yourself.

And furthermore, why spend an afternoon sweating up a storm and getting all dirty when you can spend 20 minutes and solve your fence problem? Now, that’s what I’m talking about! =)

Fence Post Repair Made Easy (My Story):

Of course, not all fence repairs can be done in under an hour. You may need to replace the entire post or even install a new fence altogether.

That said, it makes sense to look into cheaper alternatives before you start to see what your options are. In fact, that’s how I discovered these fence repair brackets and structural post supports in the first place.

In my case, the rest of the fence looked like it was in pretty good shape, as well as the other posts. However, the concrete footing of the leaning fence post had cracked, providing little support at the base.

I figured that I had at least a few more years before I needed to any other fence fixes. So, why not spend $100 on a (possibly) temporary fix to extend the life of my fence, right?

It ended up being more cost-effective to buy the support stakes in a larger quantity. So, I proactively added support to another old fence post that looked like it might need some bracing in the future. For the money I spent, I got a great deal!

Let me know if you have questions about fixing a leaning fence post or finding the best post fix for you. I’d be happy to help!
